I’m interested but want to talk to you more before booking a session? Can we do that?
Yes we can definitely talk first. I call this a Discovery Call. It's important to feel that a coach is the right fit for you. During this call I will ask you some questions about what you are looking to get out of coaching. You can also ask questions of me. You can schedule a Discovery Call by clicking on the ‘Schedule a Discovery Call’ button on the Contact page. You can access the Contact page by clicking here.
What does a typical session look like?
There is no specific formula for a coaching session. I usually start and end each session with a brief centering exercise. During the centering exercise I may ask you to close your eyes, take deep breaths, visualize something, and connect to a higher power. Other than this, each session is different. It’s tailored to each individual.
Even though each session is different, here are some general things you can expect. It’s likely that I will ask you some deeper questions to think about so be prepared to be challenged. If you are looking to achieve something specific, we may work through the steps needed and set some goals for getting there. I could also suggest exercises to work on after our session is complete.
How do I prepare for a coaching session?
Take some time to think about what you would like to discuss in a coaching session. It may be one large topic that we discuss the whole time. Or you may have a few topics. If you have a few topics then prioritize which is the most important to you. We’ll start with that. Each session is different but on average we work on 1-3 topics during a session. You should be prepared to be as honest as possible with yourself and with me. That will really help figure out what is going on and to work through it.
How many coaching sessions does it take?
Unfortunately, there is no set number of sessions for everyone. Some people have a specific topic they want to work through and can have it addressed very easily in 1-2 sessions. For some people, it takes longer. Some clients prefer to have an ongoing relationship; meeting regularly a few times a month. You get to decide what works for you.
I want to get coaching on a subject not listed. Is that ok?
Yes absolutely. I provided a brief list of general topics that I’ve covered in many different sessions with people but its not a complete list. I’m happy to discuss other topics as well.
Is the information I share kept private?
Yes all information that is shared in coaching sessions is kept strictly confidential between client and coach. I do not share this information with anyone.
Can I get help with my resume?
Yes, I have reviewed tens of thousands of resumes while recruiting. I know what works and what does not. I have helped many clients work on resumes. I don’t write the resume for you, but help you create an amazing one. If you don’t have a current resume or have never written one it may take some additional work but we can usually go from nothing to polished and presentable in a few sessions.
Can I get help with interview preparation?
Yes, I have interviewed thousands of people over my decade in recruiting. I can definitely help you. We can talk about some general techniques for interviews and also do mock interviews during a coaching session.
Can I get help finding a job?
Yes, we can go over getting in the right mindset, networking, job search strategies, etc. I’m not a headhunter so I don’t actually go out and find potential jobs for you. You take the ownership of finding the right position that works for you.
Where did you get your training?
I completed my certification in holistic life coaching from the Foundation for Holistic Coaching run by international best-selling author and coach Alan Cohen. You can learn more about the Foundation for Holistic Coaching here.
What is holistic coaching?
Holistic coaching looks at the entire person. We are multi-faceted beings who experience life through mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions. A foundational element of holistic coaching is that you are your own best guide to your life. I won’t be giving advice during coaching sessions. I’m not here as a coach to tell you what to do. I’ll be steering you to look inward to find your own intuition and guidance from within.
